We left the hotel at around 8 o'clock and arrived at the center at around 8:30. When we got there we quickly set up and then went to the drivers meeting, basically a meeting about rules and any questions you can ask Karhik. It was pretty cool since the stadium was so big! When we got back to the booth we decided to take a picture since everyone was together. After the picture we ended up branching off and doing our own things. Kelly, Dustin, and Trystan went to work on autonomous. Emilie and Hailey stayed at the booth and Mckayla, Dylan, and Mr. K went to scout. Before we came to the Opening Ceremony, where they introduce the start of the tournament, we had our first practice round. In our practice round we actually were the only ones to show up so we basically got a free round to practice all by ourselves with an audience! At the opening ceremony there were the intorduction of countries and the mentor of the year awards! James Pearman got the mentor of the year award because of all he's done on the VEX Forums to help people. It is really crazy because although he lives in California he has helped us and inspired our robot alot which is crazy! Some photos of our most recent matches. We are currently going 1-2. We decided to just go down to the hotel restaurant for our fancy dinner since everyone was exhausted. Dustin and Trystan both forgot their nice dress shoes so they looked alittle funny!

We all got to sleep in today and enjoyed a good relaxing morning. At around 11 o'clock we got out and started walking to the exposition center. Everyone grabbed a few things and we were off! it ended up being about a mile walk but we were fortunate enough to have good weather. When we finally got to the center we set down all our stuff and got ready to set up our booth. Mr. K got us registered and everyone but Hailey and Emilie went to the open forum discussion. At that meeting they just discussed rules and people were allowed to ask questions. At the meeting Karthik, the chairman of the game design committee and the emcee of the worlds award ceremony, ended up sitting at the table right next to us so I creepily took a picture of him! Karthik is basically a celebrity in the VEX World. After our little adventure with Karthik we came down to our booth to help Emilie and Hailey set up and we were visited by some old friend, Austin and Tanner. After we got the robot inspected we all decided to go to McDonalds. The walk there was very skecky...not the nicest of neighborhoods around here! We got back from McDonalds at around 5:30. After dinner we packed up our booth and went down to see the college team from TRF and how they were doing. They are the number one in the world for programming with an autonomous of 57 points. We went and watched a round of driver control but they only got 29 points on a bad round. When we were leaving we noticed how nice the water fountain was (prettiest thing we've seen in the whole city). This is basically where we ended our day and then everyone went swimming at the hotel. Of course Mr. K had to get a picture with him too!
As we started our third years trek to the worlds competition in Louisville, Kentucky. We all met after breakfast in the science room to load up our luggage and robot tools into the van. McKayla was already down in the citys so we picked her up in Saint Cloud from the student council state convention. We left the school at around 9:15. The fire trucks escorted us out of town and followed us out east to the 'S' curves. It was pretty cool that we got an escort like the sports teams have in the past. This is the charter bus we took all the way from Minnesota to Kentucky. Personally I found it terrible and never want to ride on it again but that's just me! The bus had outlets and wifi so it was really nice but the ride was terrible. We all got comfy pretty quick and sat next to our friends we know from other teams. everyone was up until midnight or so talking and having a good time catching up with other teams. The bus was really roomy which is also a plus. We arrived in Kentucky at about 9:30 AM and we all breathed a sigh of relief as everyone was sick of the bus. We passed the KFC yum! place and plan on coming back to it to taste some delicious KFC in Kentucky! After we became pretty good friends with our bus driver, Carlton, we started to settle into our hotel and get the room arrangements set up. We decided on putting the robot stuff into the boys room since they had more space and less people. We ate at the Official Cardinal Memorial Cafe. The menu consisted of deep fried macaroni and cheese, plenty of burger choices, and a small arrangement of soups that we all got. After our meal we took a walk through the hall of fame that was right in the restaurant. We decided to go to the Walmart and it ended up being a walk through the town. It was also a 2.5 mile walk so we all got our exercise for sure today! Dylan and Dustin ended up buying enough cereal to last them all week for three meals a day! We ended the day with having a meeting about tomorrows game plan and what we needed to work on.
